Mayor And Council Honor Five City Employees

During their meeting Thursday members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council honored five city employees who have opted to take an early retirement-buyout offer.

The move will eliminate the five positions from the city’s payroll, resulting in significance savings for the city, and extra days of retirement bliss for the employees.

City Administrator William McLain indicates that while the buyout will cost the city around $147,000 to begin with, elimination of the positions should result in a savings of some $72,000 during the current fiscal year, and $230,000 each year thereafter.

Jeff Fitzgerald served in excess of 38 years employed through the City of Lawrenceburg, retiring with the rank of Captain with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department.

Wayne Holden has served with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department for more than 35 years, retiring with the rank of Assistant Chief.

Larry Cox has been employed through the City of Lawrenceburg for nearly 39 years, retiring as an employee of the Street Department.

Bobby Foster, an employee of the Lawrenceburg Parks Department, retires after more than 29 years.

Anne Morrow has been employed through the City of Lawrenceburg for some 28 years, and retires as an employee of the Administration Department.
