Police look into theft incidents

Lawrenceburg Now

Local law enforcement officers took reports on thefts that occurred on both Clayton and East Gaines Streets this week.

On Tuesday, officers spoke with a Clayton Street resident who reported someone had stolen his 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol out of his home. He said he last remembered seeing it a month before. The gun had a value of $325. Officers found no sign of forced entry to the home.

Officers spoke with the East Gaines Street resident on Wednesday. She said that she had recently broken up with her boyfriend and had taken back keys she had given him to her home and her 2018 GMC Sierra truck.

She said she had been working in Louisiana a few days before but came home because she felt that something wasn’t right. She found her ex-boyfriend getting his things out of her home. Before he left, she told him not to come back to her property.

The victim said when she went back to Louisiana a friend contacted her to say that she had just seen her ex-boyfriend in Louisiana, driving her truck. The victim called a neighbor who confirmed that her truck was missing along with her utility trailer and four-wheeler.

The victim said that she had all of the keys to the vehicles. She said their value, altogether, was $57,300.

Both of these cases currently remain under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with information should contact the police department at 931-762-2276.
