Resident Reports He Was Assaulted By Intruders

A Leoma man reported to local law enforcement officials during the weekend that he had been assaulted inside his home by intruders.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to investigate the incident at 271 Richardson Road around 10:30 p.m. The resident, age 51, reported that he had gone to the hallway of his home to unplug his washing machine. When he closed the door, he reports that two male subjects fled from a back bedroom. It was at this point, the man said, that he “got hit in the head and left side.”

According to the victim he scuffled with his assaulters before the fled from the premises. He then walked to a friend’s house seeking help.

Deputies noted that the man had sustained injuries and was bleeding. They indicated, however, that they found no sign of an altercation inside his house.

The matter remains under investigation at the current time by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
