Pregnant Mom Arrested For Domestic Assault

A pregnant mother of two was taken into custody during the weekend after she allegedly assaulted her husband for looking at another woman.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were summoned to intervene in the domestic squabble that occurred around 11:40 a.m. Saturday outside the family’s 531 Fifth Street home.

Reports show that when officers arrived on the scene they found a woman, who was in her ninth month of pregnancy, standing outside the family’s Mercury Mountaineer, “yelling at the occupants.” Inside were the woman’s husband, age 26, and two children, ages 5 and 2.

Officers spoke with the woman, who admitted she had become angry when she noticed her husband look at another woman while they were inside the local Walmart store. Once they returned to their vehicle, she said an argument ensued. During the argument, the woman said she “slapped her husband across the face, causing a cut on his upper lip.” He was reportedly driving at the time of the assault.

As a result of the investigation the woman, Ashley Brooke Edmondson, age 21, was placed under arrest on charges of domestic assault. Due to her pregnancy she was not handcuffed, however officers report she was transported to the Lawrence County Jail without further incident. She was held for the mandatory twelve-hour cool-down period, then released under bond.

Due to the fact that the assault occurred in front of the couple’s children, reports indicate a referral was made for further investigation through the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
