Roommate Airlifted In Wednesday Night Assault

A Lawrenceburg man was airlifted to a Nashville hospital overnight Wednesday after being assaulted by his roommate.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department were called to 759 Glenn Springs Road at approximately 11:00 p.m. where they spoke with a resident who had sustained serious injuries.

The victim, age 27, told deputies that he had been engaged in an altercation with his roommate, thirty-one year old Colt Chambers. He said that he had borrowed $20 from Chambers' mother and had arranged to repay it on Friday.

He told deputies that Chamber became angered, saying that he believed that he already had money, then demanded that he repay his mother.

The victim said that Chambers began to hit him and that "within seconds" he had struck him in the face several times. He said one blow caused him to fall backwards, striking the back of his head. He told deputies that he was uncertain what he fell on, but that it was "very hard."

The victim reported that he struggled to his feet then walked to a neighbor's house to place a 911 call.

Emergency Medical Service personnel arrived on the scene to render aid. Reports show that the victim sustained several lacerations to the face and ear. When EMTs found that his pupils were not focusing correctly they called for air transport.

EMTs transported the victim to Gandy Fire Hall on West Point Road. He was then transported by Air Evac to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Although he had not been located at the time reports were filed deputies indicate that warrants were issued against Chambers, charging him with aggravated assault.
