Officers Search For Relative Of Man Left Sitting In Hot Car

Police officials report that officers searched for an hour for relatives of a man who had been left sitting inside a hot vehicle with no air conditioning on Wednesday.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department answered the call to a parking lot on North Locust Avenue around 12:30 p.m.

A concerned citizen had notified Lawrence Central Dispatch that the man had been sitting inside the hot vehicle for some time. When they arrived, officers report that they spoke with the fifty-four year old man but “could not get any response.”

Officers began to check businesses in the area, hoping to locate a family member. They report that it was not until after they had been on-scene for an hour that a family member approached. He told them that the victim was his brother and he was taking care of him.

Officers advised the man not to leave his brother inside a vehicle in the current temperatures. They contacted Adult Protective Services to make a referral in the case, as well.
