Wednesday Crime Report

Stolen vehicle

Deputies were dispatched to an Iron City property Tuesday where a local woman reported that her 1997 Chevy Cavalier had been stolen. She said she had left the car on the property three years ago for repairs. She said she received several text messages indicating that two men were interested in purchasing the vehicle, which was not functional, for $400. She arrived at the property Tuesday to find that the car was missing. Loss was estimated at $850.

Theft

A West Point resident reported to deputies Tuesday that someone had broken into her storage buildings sometime between June 13 and 15. The locks had been cut and several items were missing, including camping gear, climbing gear, and tools. Loss was estimated at around $600.

Burglary

A refrigerator and scrap metal were reported missing from an outbuilding on an Iron City Property Monday. The eighty-five year old victim reported that losses totaled approximately $230.

Theft

A man who inadvertently left his cell phone inside his ex-girlfriend's vehicle last week told police officers that it may have been sold to a third party. He told officers that he called his phone and that an unfamiliar woman answered. He said she told him that "he could get his phone back when she got her $70 back." The phone and accessories have an estimated value of $330.

Theft

Police officers are looking into a theft reported from a Third Street home. The victim, age 50, reported that she had been out of town. She returned to find that her gold sapphire and diamond ring was missing. Her loss was around $150.
