Laborer Says He Was Struck By Vehicle

A man performing work at a Lawrenceburg residence Tuesday reported to authorities that he had been struck by a vehicle while trying to obtain its license plate number.

The victim, age 36, was replacing the roof on a shed at a home on Nixon Avenue around 6:00 p.m. when the incident occurred.

He reported to officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department that while he had been working there that day, an acquaintance had stopped by several times. He stated that the man appeared to be intoxicated and asked each time whether “needed some help.”

When he returned around 6:00, the victim reports that the man became angry when he stated he had no work for him. He said that the man placed his hand inside his pocket while stating that he was “going to cut someone.” The victim reports that at that point the man took a swing at him, then retreated when he began to defend himself.

The victim reported that the man ran back to the green, Chevrolet S-10 truck in which he was a passenger. The victim proceeded to place a 911 call for assistance and moved to the rear of the truck to obtain the plate number. He said that the female driver began cursing, put the truck in reverse, then backed up and struck him with the vehicle. Afterwards they fled from the area.

A second laborer told officers that he had witnessed the entire assault and confirmed the victim’s statement.

The matter has been now turned over for continued investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
