Resident Reports Bank Account Fraud

A resident of Lawrenceburg’s Pulaski Street reported to authorities Friday that her bank account had been targeted in an instance of fraud.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, the victim, age 42, was notified of the potential fraud incidents by officials with Green Bank.

Bank officials reported monitoring some unusual activity on the victim’s account. The victim reported that a little investigation revealed that someone had been using her old debit card information in order to gain access to her money.

The victim stated that she had recently obtained a new debit card, and that she had assumed her old card would be deactivated, however that was not the case.

Although the victim did physically destroy the old debit card, officials indicate that someone apparently used the information attached to the card to unauthorized purchases. The culprit reportedly made purchases that totaled some $1,115.49.

Anyone who has information regarding the crime is encouraged to contact the department at 762-2276.
