Iron City Reestablishes Police Department

Officials with the government of Iron City in southern Lawrence County have announced the reestablishment of a police department within that city.

The city was formerly protected by its own police force, but was forced to disband the department in 1989 as a result of budget constraints. Diligent efforts exhibited by the city’s board of commissioners has allowed funding to once again be identified for police protection.

Officials indicate that Jessie Barnett has been named Iron City Police Chief, while police officer Robert Youngson has been named to assist in the crime-fighting effort.
