Husband Charged In Domestic Assault Case

A Leoma man has been arrested on eight separate charges in connection with an early June domestic altercation that took place inside his home.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department indicate that Timothy Howard Morris, 47, of 21 Rabbit Trail Road was arrested Friday on one count of domestic assault and seven separate counts of reckless endangerment.

Deputies were summoned to the home regarding reports that a woman was being held there against her will at knifepoint. When they arrived the forty-two-year-old victim indicated that she had returned home from work to become embroiled in an altercation with her husband. She stated that they argued and that he began to wield a long knife and making threats toward her, then threatening to kill himself. She stated that at one point he blocked the doorway and would not allow her to leave their bedroom. She was later able to dart past him, run from the house and call for help. The altercation reportedly occurred in front of a number of youngsters.

Morris reportedly left the premises before the arrival of law enforcement agents. He later surrendered himself at Crockett Hospital where he underwent mental evaluation.

Morris was taken into custody on the charges shortly before 4:00 p.m. Friday. He was booked through the Lawrence County Jail where bond was set at $120,000.

Morris was scheduled for an initial appearance through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on Monday.
