Resident Faces Charges For Stealing Purse Inside Park And Using Credit Cards

An investigation initiated in connection with the theft of a purse from a vehicle at a local park has led to the arrest of a Lawrenceburg man.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that a purse was reported stolen from a vehicle inside David Crockett State Park on May 31.

Although the victim was quick to report the cards stolen, officials indicate the culprit was able to make purchases at two different businesses.

Reports indicate that the day the purse was stolen the thief used the credit cards to purchase $58.02 in gasoline from Super Stop market and rented movies from Redbox at a cost of $3.29.

The culprit attempted to make an additional purchase at Murphy USA in Pulaski, however the card was declined due to theft.

Investigators were able to collect evidence identifying a red Monte Carlos that was connected to the crime, and obtained a license plate number. They report they spotted the vehicle on June 8, parked in the same area where the theft had occurred.

A traffic stop was initiated near the entrance to the park, and the driver was identified as Ronnie Quentin Brown, 24, of 14 Goodhope Road.

During the stop, detectives report they gained consent from the female vehicle owner to conduct a search of her residence. Inside, they say they were able to locate the stolen property.

As a result of the investigation Brown was placed under arrest on charges of burglary, theft and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. He is scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on July 7, 2011.
