Canoeing Incident Claims Life Of Loretto Man

   An investigation was launched through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Saturday evening after a Loretto man died in a canoeing incident.

   Officials with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department indicate that 40-year-old Gary Dale Robertson of 442 Rascaltown Road, Loretto, died around 5:20 p.m. while canoeing near Railroad Bed Road in the Loretto/Iron City area. Witnesses stated that Robertson’s canoe overturned, causing him to drown.

   Robertson’s body was transported by members of the Lawrence County Ambulance Service to Crockett Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body was then dispatched to Nashville for autopsy.
