Family Scuffles Over Who Puts Flowers On Mother’s Grave
Law enforcement officers were asked to intervene Saturday after family members became engaged in a scuffle while arguing about which of them would place flowers on their mother’s grave.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to a Mildred Avenue home where they made contact with a woman and two men. One of the men told officers that he and his sister had come to their brother’s house to confront him about vandalizing flowers at their mother’s grave in Gum Springs Cemetery. They said the heads of the flowers they had placed on the grave had been ripped off and thrown onto their front lawn. When they confronted their brother about the action, they said he punched his brother in the face through the car window.
Officers report that the suspect did confess to the crime. He told officers that, “He wanted to put flowers on the grave as well and didn’t think it was right that his brother and sister told him he couldn’t.”
The victim was advised of his legal rights, should he wish to pursue charges against his brother.
