Three Attempt To Avoid Arrest During Warrant Service

Three members of a single family were arrested last week after one of them lied to deputies, claiming that the others were not at the location.

According to reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department a deputy had gone to 255 Red Hill Center Road to serve a warrant on Joshua Eugene Smith who had an outstanding warrant for violation of probation.

Deputies report that Logan Keith Lindley, 23, answered the door. He told deputies that Smith was his brother, but that he was not there at the time. They report finding Smith in the living room. He was subsequently placed under arrest.

When they questioned the men about whether anyone else was present inside the home, both men denied that there was.

Deputies found, however, that their mother, Connie Lynn Massie, was in the utility room. She, also, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation, as well as an amendment to a violation of probation.

Because he had given deputies false information Lindley was also arrested on a charge of obstruction of service.

All three were transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for booking.

In a separate incident Saturday deputies report going to 1218 Turnpike, Summertown to serve a state arrest warrant on resident April Dawn Garland, age 35.

Deputies indicate that Garland ran out the rear door of the home and fled. She was found a short time later lying on the ground in a nearby wooded area.

Garland was transported to the detention center and booked on the warrant. She was additionally charged with one count of evading arrest.
