Store Patrons Fraudulently Use Leoma Man’s Credit Card

A Leoma resident filed a complaint with law enforcement officials Friday, indicating that patrons of a market in his neighborhood had used his credit card illegally to purchase gas and obtain cash.

The fifty-four-year-old victim, a resident of Fall River Road, told Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that he had stopped at B&B Market around 5:15 p.m. to purchase gasoline. When he arrived home, he reports that officials with his bank telephoned to alert him to the fact that his credit card had been used several times at the same market.

When he realized his credit card was missing, the victim said he returned to the market to investigate. The clerk, he reported, was able to match his card to at least two additional purchases that had been made after he left.

The clerk told the victim that a woman with blonde hair and a rose tattoo on her ankle had used his card to purchase $22 worth of gasoline, then obtained $100 cash back. Shortly afterwards, the clerk stated that a white male came into the business and obtained an additional $100 cash with the card.

The clerk handed the man a zip lock bag with the pieces of his credit card inside. He stated that he had found the card behind the store, where someone had cut it up.

Although he knew deputies were on their way to take his statement, they report that the clerk left the market prior to their arrival.

At the current time, detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division have been tasked with further examining the case.
