Husband Rams Wife’s Car In Drive-Thru Banking Line

A Summertown man was arrested Friday after he allegedly followed his wife through Lawrenceburg then rammed her car repeatedly, even while she was in a drive-thru line at their bank.

David Scott Story, 32, of 13 Blackwood Road was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center Friday afternoon on charges of reckless endangerment, aggravated domestic assault, and driving on a suspended driver license.

Lawrenceburg Police Department reports show that the victim, age 34, told officers that she and Story had become involved in an argument about various things, including putting his pay check into their joint account to cover overdraft fees.

The victim told officers she left to make the deposit and that he pursued her. She indicated she “tried several routes” but that Story located her and began to follow her through town.

When she was traveling on a roadway near Kroger, she said he rammed the back of her car from behind with his truck.

The victim reported that she as frightened and drove straight to Green Bank at the Pulaski Street/North Locust Avenue intersection.

She said that when she pulled into the parking lot he rammed her car a second time. She said she pulled into the drive-thru lane and that Story rammed her car a third time, pushing her vehicle forward.

The victim told officers that Story exited his truck and attempted to get inside her vehicle. She said that during the drive she had telephoned her mother and that her brother had arrived at the scene to help.

The brother was able to restrain Story, preventing him from getting into the car. She reported that he then got back into his truck and left.

Story returned to the scene shortly where he spoke with officers, as well. Reports show that he admitted he had struck his wife’s vehicle and that he was driving on a suspended driver license.

He told the officer that he only remembered ramming his wife’s car once. Because he knew his license was suspended, he said he left the scene “to get someone to drive him back to the bank.”

Story is scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on July 7, 2011.
