Liberty Fest To Feature "Gone With The Wind" Stars

The year was 1939 - and oh, what a year it was in Hollywood!! Tinsel Town magically churned out what many consider "the best of the best" movies ever made - The Wizard of Oz, Stagecoach, Goodbye, Mr. Chips, Wuthering Heights, The Women, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - just to name a few. Add to the top of this list the long awaited, much anticipated, never to be matched before or since - legendary masterpiece Gone With The Wind. It is very hard to believe that this great movie was made 70 years ago.

This year's big Libertyfest Celebration will combine a salute to the "Great State of Georgia" with an anniversary celebration of everyone's favorite classic movie Gone With The Wind. And adding to the fun and excitement of the celebration will be a pair of fun-loving guys, Mickey Kuhn and Patrick Curtis, who just happened to appear in this legendary film as "Little Beau Wilkes", Melanie & Ashley's child, one as a baby and the other as a little boy.

Mickey Kuhn and Patrick Curtis will be the special guests of honor at the Gone With The Wind Ball on Friday evening, July 3rd, at Providence Hall. They will be on hand to share their stories and add a bit of history and nostalgia to the Ball. Tickets for the Ball are $25.00 per person, $15.00 per student, and may be purchased by calling 762-7617 or emailing abmorrow@bellsouth.net. A "Civil War" ordhestra will perform the music for this special occasion. Period dress is preferred, however "Sunday Best" will also be appropriate.

Mickey and Patrick will be on hand the next day to introduce the movie Gone With The Wind which will be shown at the Crockett Cinemas in its entirety on Saturday morning, July 4th at 10:00am. They will also appear at several other Libertyfest events over the long holiday weekend.

Anne Morrow, Director of Lawrenceburg Beautification, gives the details of their visit, "Mickey and Patrick are excited about visiting this year's Liberty Festival, and we are excited about them being here. They both have some very interesting stories to tell about being in Gone With The Wind when they were children and about their lives in general. Patrick was once engaged to television star Linda Evans, and he was married to movie star Raquel Welch. Patrick appeared in several other films and television shows in addition to Gone With The Wind - 70 in all!! Another claim to fame was his role as Nick and Nora Charles' baby in "Another Thin Man"."

"Patrick appeared in some episodes of "Leave It To Beaver" as one of Wally's friends. He met Linda Evans on the set of "Ozzie & Harriet", where he shrewdly made sure he was the ONLY kid next to the delightful blonde from Hollywood High."

"One of Patrick's last film roles was in "Cimarron" starring Glenn Ford and Maria Schell. He played an elevator boy, circa 1912. Patrick's career as a motion picture and television writer, producer, and director spans over forty years and encompasses more than thirty five major motion picture and television programs, many with Raquel Welch. He even directed John Wayne, which is a story within itself."

"We are looking forward to having these two gentlemen in Lawrenceburg as our special guests during this year's Libertyfest Celebration. I'm sure everyone will want to meet them and get their autographs while they are here, especially the "Windies" who will also be visiting Libertyfest for the first time. You won't want to miss a single event on the schedule, so please make plans to be in town during the 4th of July holiday and enjoy a stay-cation right here in Lawrenceburg!! If you would like a brochure to be mailed to you, please call 762-7617."
