Ex Crawls Into Access Space And Detaches Ductwork

Law enforcement officers were summoned to investigate Saturday when a resident reported his ex-girlfriend had crawled into the access space of his home and detached air conditioning ductwork.

The victim, age 48, requested that deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department be dispatched to his Old Highway 43 home shortly before 7:00 p.m. He reported that the incident had begun when his ex came to his home around 3:30 that afternoon.

The victim said that the woman had come to his door and initiated an argument, so he closed the door. He told deputies that rather than leaving, she sat down on the steps and began to text him repeatedly. He said he responded a few times then began to ignore the text messages.

The victim said that he watched the woman through the peep hole. He said he saw another individual help her cut a lock off of an access door, and she crawled inside. He said she was inside for a few minutes. After exiting she and the other individual left the premises.

After a time the victim said he noticed that his air conditioner was not cooling properly. He said he used a flashlight to look into the access area and found that nearly all of the air conditioning ducts had been disconnected. Reports indicate that more than $300 in damage was incurred.

Deputies noted that they attempted to make contact with the woman, but were unsuccessful at that time. Investigation in the matter is on-going.
