Woman Prevented From Driving With Child While Intoxicated

Police reports indicate that a Leoma woman was prevented from driving away with her young daughter Friday night after becoming involved in a domestic altercation while intoxicated.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department made their way to the Weaver Circle home at 11:20 p.m. The male resident, age 36, reported that he had become involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-wife, Lisa Marie Rose, age 32.

The man reported that Rose had consumed several alcoholic drinks prior to the altercation. He said that she became irate, first screaming then physically assaulting him.

He told officers that she went into the bathroom and punched a window, causing the glass to shatter and cut her wrist.

During a portion of the physical attack, he said she was holding their twenty-two month old daughter. He said that she then went outside with the youngster and attempted to drive away.

Deputies note that while they were there, Rose was extremely belligerent and in an agitated state. They said that she was yelling, cursing and moving about the yard, and that she had sustained a large wound on her left wrist, apparently from punching the window. She was handcuffed and placed into a squad car.

When they returned to the car they found that she had been able to move her cuffed hands from her back to the front, and was able to remove the right cuff entirely. While she was in the squad car, deputies note that Rose repeatedly screamed out threats against the victim’s life.

Reports show that Rose had a large amount of blood on her bandaged wrist and clothing, and that blood was found throughout the bathroom.

Although emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, Rose refused treatment. Due to the severity of the wound she was transported to Crockett Hospital for stitches.

Rose was later transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where she was incarcerated on two counts of domestic assault, domestic vandalism, and reckless endangerment. Bond was set at $4,300.

Rose is scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 18, 2013.
