Resident Interrupts Early Morning Theft

A Lawrenceburg resident told law enforcement officers he was able to detain a man he watched stealing items from his property early Saturday morning.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to a Springer Road home around 4:40 a.m. The resident, age 29, reported he had been sitting outside his residence when he noticed a vehicle stop across the street. He said that the occupant exited, came onto his property, and began to steal his signs.

The victim told officers that he chased the man away from his property, “Up and back down the street.” He said that during the pursuit he fell, causing injury to his hand and leg.

He stated that the man got back into his vehicle, but that he was able to take his keys before he could drive away.

Officers report that Brock Ethan Silver, age 22, of 227 Hood Road was sitting inside his car when they made contact. He did not wish to speak to them, but granted permission for a vehicle search.

A K-9 search revealed 21.9 grams of marijuana packaged in individual small plastic bags, as well as an open container of alcohol with a green leafy substance inside. Silver reportedly claimed ownership of the items.

Silver was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under charges that include theft and possession of marijuana for the purpose of resale.
