Wife Held Against Her Will At Knifepoint

Law enforcement officials were summoned to intervene early this week when a Leoma woman was held against her will at knifepoint.

According to reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department a call was received shortly before 10:30 Monday morning regarding the matter. They met with the victim, age 42, who stated that she had become involved in the altercation after returning home from work.

When she returned to her home, the victim said her husband, Timothy Howard Morris, age 47, confronted her. The pair allegedly became involved in an argument during which he wielded a long knife and began telling her “if he couldn’t have her no one would.”

The victim told deputies that her husband began making threats to kill himself. She also indicated that he blocked the doorway while wielding the knife and would not allow her to leave the bedroom for a short while.

After a time, the victim indicated she was able to dart past her husband, run from the house and call for help. When he realized she was speaking with law enforcement officials, Morris reportedly got into his truck and fled from the premises.

Deputies indicate that “all during the altercation there were seven children present, witnessing the incident.” They note, however, that Morris “made no attempt to assault the children.”

According to reports, Morris surrendered himself at Crockett Hospital where he was undergoing a mental evaluation. Reports indicated that warrants were obtained against Morris, charging him with the crime of aggravated domestic assault.
