Summertown Resident Victim Of Fraud

A Summertown resident reported to authorities last week that she had discovered that her identity had been used in a fraudulent manner.

The victim, age 21, reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies that she had received a bill from Charter Cable for television service that had been established at a North Park Street, Hohenwald residence. The outstanding bill was for services provided between March 20 and August 13 of 2013.

The victim told deputies that she had never resided at the address, nor had she subscribed to the service. She said that she had been living in Summertown since 2012.

The victim said that she had already contacted Charter about the matter. Company representatives had requested that she provide them with both proof of residency and a police report. She told officers she had no idea who could have received the service using her identity.
