Woman charged with trying to kill her sister

Lawrenceburg Now

Warrants were obtained against a Summertown woman Thursday morning, charging her with attempting to kill her sister.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, an officer was parked at Solid Rock Church on Buffalo Road at around 8:45 a.m. The officer noticed a vehicle that was exceeding the speed limit. Before the officer could initiate a traffic stop, reports show that the driver pulled into the parking lot beside the patrol car.

The officer reports that the female driver was obviously in distress and was gasping for breath. Once she was able to slow her breathing, the twenty year old victim told the officer that her sister had just tried to kill her.

The victim reported that her sister got on top of her and choked her until she lost consciousness and urinated on herself. She said when she regained consciousness she yelled at her sister to stop, saying that she was having trouble breathing. She said her sister’s boyfriend was present and pulled her sister off of her. She told officers that he was the reason she was able to escape.

The officer noted that the victim was having trouble breathing and that her hands were “going numb.” Members of the Emergency Medical Service were dispatched to render aid, and they transported the victim to Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems for treatment.

Officers went to the victim’s Clearview Avenue home, where the assault occurred, in an attempt to locate the sister. Reports indicate that they were unable to do so at that point. They then made their way to the hospital to check on the victim.

Officers noted that the victim had sustained several injuries including bilateral bruising to the neck, a laceration inside her bottom lip, a small laceration and swelling around her nose, and bilateral petechiae. The noted that, “The bruising and petechiae are indicative of her being strangled.”

As a result of the investigation, warrants were obtained against twenty-one year old Kayla Ann Wall of 118 Brace Road, charging her with the crime of attempted second degree murder.
