Monday Crime Report
Burglary
Sheriff’s deputies investigated a burglary at a Bonnertown Road home in Five Points where the victim reported the culprit had pried open a side door of his house. The victim said the only items that appeared to be missing were some extension cords. When he checked his outbuildings he found one had been burglarized, as well. Chainsaws, a welder, and several miscellaneous tools had been stolen. The person responsible attempted to break into a second outbuilding, but was unsuccessful. Loss and damages were estimated at nearly $1,000.
Theft
A resident of White Oak Drive in Leoma reported to deputies that both of her Social Security cards were missing. She told deputies she had last used one of the cards for identification at the Health Department in February. She suspected that a former houseguest might have stolen the cards. She told deputies she had already contacted the Social Security Administration about the matter.
Burglary
Deputies responded to a Highway 43 North storage facility where the victim reported that someone had broken into her storage unit. The lock had been cut and the door rolled up around eight inches. When they walked through the victim said nothing appeared to be missing. Deputies noted that it appeared someone had attempted to break into a second unit rented by the same woman.
Burglary/theft
Deputies were called to a Waterfork Road home in Ethridge where the seventy-four year old victim reported his grandson had entered through a window and stole his wallet. The wallet contained identifying cards and $160 cash. He told deputies that he had awakened in time to see him grab his wallet, but that when he said something to him, he fled from the residence.
Theft
Police officers responded to a Whipporwill Drive home where the resident reported her mailbox was missing from the roadside. The post remained intact. Loss was approximately $50.
Aggravated burglary
Officers were called to a Spring Avenue home to investigate when a resident returned from a trip to find that someone had broken into her home. The home was entered through a bedroom window. The only thing missing was a 55 inch HDTV from the living room. Loss was said to be around $500.
Vandalism
A woman reported to police officers that her 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van had been vandalized while parked in a parking lot at 1212 North Locust Avenue Thursday. Someone had scratched the paint on the driver’s side resulting in around $500 worth of damage
