Salute To Agriculture Breakfast
The Annual Salute to Agriculture Breakfast/Week will kick off with the Agriculture Edition Tabloid you will receive in the mail distributed by the Democrat Union newspaper.
Monday, June 6, at 7 p.m. is the Beef Producers Meeting at International Crossroads of Dixie Antique Tractor Club, Military Ave. The topics and speakers for the meeting include:
Forage and Beef Economics – John Campbell, UT Extension Farm Management Specialist
Switchgrass Production – Dr. Jason de Koff, TSU Bioenergy Crop Production Specialist
Rainfall Simulation Program – Donna Sue Garretson, NRCS Grazing Specialist
The Salute to Agriculture Farmers Breakfast will be Tuesday, June 7, 7:30 a.m. at David Crockett School Cafeteria, 2300 Waynesboro Hwy, Lawrenceburg. Breakfast is by invitation only so if you have received your invitation please don’t forget to RSVP to the Chamber of Commerce at 762-4911 or e-mail gwynn@selectlawrence.com.
Guest Speakers will be DeWayne Perry, Board Member FAACT, (Farm Animal Care Coalition of Tennessee) & Valerie Bass, Executive Director, Williamson County UT Extension Director, Tennessee Beef Council.
Wednesday, June 8 is Farm/City Day at Rotary Park Pavilion from 9:00 a.m. til noon.
Thursday, June 9 the Farm Tours will begin:
8:00 a.m. at the back parking lot of Lawrence Co High School to load bus;
8:15 - Bus leaves for T Square Livestock Farm;
8:30 - arrive at T Square Livestock Farm;
9:30 - Leave for Shelby Brothers Farm;
9:45 - arrive at Shelby Brothers Farm;
10:45 - Leave for Shaffer Farms Custom Meats;
11:00 - arrive at Shaffer Farms Custom Meats Tour and dutch treat lunch opportunity;
12:30 - leave for return trip to parking lot at LCHS;
1:00 - conclusion of Tours and Wrap-up.
