Renter Startled By Interest Of Relatives

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that an Ethridge man became very concerned when he went in search of his landlord last week only to find two men blocking his escape from the property.

Deputies were summoned to a home in the vicinity of Henryville Road in regards to the situation. A resident reported his water was not working, so he had gone in search of his landlord to inform him of the problem.

He said that he drove to the home of his landlord’s father. As he drove up the driveway, he reports that two men on a four wheeler began to follow him.

When he noticed there was no one at the home, the man told deputies he turned around to exit the drive, but found that the two men had blocked his path.

He said when they got off the four wheeler and began to approach his vehicle it placed him in fear of bodily harm. He said that he accelerated and made his way around the men and the ATV, exited the driveway, then placed a 911 call for assistance.

When they arrived on the scene deputies report they were able to make contact with the men in question.

They admitted they had followed the man up the driveway, but said they were simply keeping an eye on the home because it belonged to a relative. They told the deputy that they had no ill intent and that no altercation had occurred, they just wanted to ask the man what he needed.
