Man Involved In Road Rage Incident Assaults Driver At Home

A Loretto man reported to authorities Tuesday that he had been assaulted at his home in the wake of a road rage incident.

The thirty-three year old victim reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department that he had been driving along Dixon Branch Road when another driver began to tailgate, then pulled beside him.

He said the driver began to yell at him about traveling too slowly and told him he needed to "stop holding up traffic."

The victim reported that the driver left and that he returned to his Gieske Road home. He told deputies that he knew two of the individuals in the other vehicle. He said that during the next hour he received several threatening text messages.

The victim said that the driver pulled into his driveway and that he told him he needed to leave, but that he "refused to listen." He said the driver rushed at him, threw him to the ground and began striking him.

He told the deputies that he had "had enough" and began to advance toward the driver. He said the man got back into his vehicle and left.

The victim did refuse medical attention. He was instructed on what he would need to do to obtain a criminal summons, should he wish to further pursue legal action.
