Dip Seen In Jobless Rate

   According to statistics gathered through the Tennessee Department of Employment, Lawrence and surrounding counties saw a dip in the unemployment rate for the month of April.

   A report released through the department shows that the unemployment rate for Lawrence County came in at 7.8% in April, down an entire percentage point from the previous month’s 8.8%.

   The Maury County rate measured 6.9% for April, with Lewis County coming in at 8.4%, Wayne at 8.0%, Giles at 6.4%.

   Across the state, officials report ninety-three counties saw decreases in the unemployment rate, with only one county reporting an increase, and one remaining steady.

   The state’s lowest jobless rate was reported in Williamson County at 3.4%. The highest was reported in Perry at 12.3%.
