Burglaries Of Storage Sheds Investigated

Burglars have been on the prowl in the area as of late and authorities were called upon Tuesday to investigate burglaries that had taken place from storage sheds.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were called to 451 East Big Springs Road where resident Jennifer Marie Branham reported someone had broken into her storage shed.

The culprit reportedly made off with a dishwasher, horse saddle and four large bags of aluminum cans. She estimated her loss to be $1,688.

Deputies investigated a similar crime at 270 Grandview Drive Tuesday afternoon. There, resident John Thomas Evers reported someone stole his blue Yamaha Timberwolf four wheeler from his shed. The ATV was reportedly stolen some time between May 22 and May 24.

Evers told deputies the ATV bore numerous stickers, including US Air Force, Boy Scouts, Titans, Summit and a license plate with “Columbus Air Force.” Loss was approximately $3,000.

The cases are currently being further investigated by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information regarding the crimes should contact the department at 762-3626.
