Spring Hill Man Injured In Monday Tractor Accident

A tractor accident in the area of Waterloo Road Monday resulted in injury to a resident of Spring Hill.

According to reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, Dennis R. Phifer, age 63, of 1074 Larkin Road, Spring Hill, was bush hogging with his Ford 1700 tractor around 2:15 p.m. Monday when the tractor overturned.

Phifer had reportedly made one sweep beside the roadway at property located at the Beeler Road intersection, and was attempting to make a second, wider cut.

The tractor apparently moved too close to the 25 foot embankment and began to slide downward. Although Phifer told deputies he could feel the tractor overturning, he was unable to dismount to safety.

The tractor rolled down the embankment, causing considerable injury to Phifer. Members of the Lawrence County Ambulance Service were on scene, administering medical attention.

They transported him by ambulance to Mt. Pleasant Airport where he was airlifted to a Nashville area hospital “for treatment of serious injuries.”
