Memorial Day Tribute Set For Monday, May 30, At City Administration Building

Memorial Day is the important day that commemorates U.S. military persons who died while in military service.  This Memorial Day will honor a local Vietnam Veteran whose  body was returned after 35 years of being recorded as missing in action.

John Anthony (Jackie) Feldhaus of Lawrenceburg had just turned 28 when his Skyraider Fighter was hit by enemy fire on a return from a mission into North Vietnam. 

The military listed him as missing in action and promoted him to Commander before declaring him dead after about a decade.  His body remained in the  20-foot crater crash site until it was recovered 35 years later.

Jackie  Feldhaus' older brother Larry Feldhaus will be the featured speaker at this years Memorial Day event at The Lawrenceburg City Administration Building.  The elder Feldhaus will share his personal memories of his younger brother's brief 28 years of life from beginning to end. 

This Memorial Day Tribute is open to all who wish to pay their respects to all the veterans that made the ultimate sacrifice so we the living enjoy the freedom we should never take for granted. 

A capacity crowd is expected at The City Adminstration Building on Waterloo Street off the west side of the Lawrenceburg Square.  The ceremony will being promptly at 6:00 p.m.  Monday, May 30th,  Memorial Day.
