Burglars Target Cash Registers

Intruders damaged cash registers when businesses in the Second/Fourth Street area were targeted in a series of burglaries Wednesday night.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers initially responded to the sounding of a burglar alarm at Accents Floral and Gifts, 205 Fourth Street, at around 10:30 p.m. They arrived to find that a side window had been busted out.

Once the building was cleared and secured the owner determined that the culprit had broken into the cash register, but said that there was no money inside at the time. Officers took into evidence a pair of black socks and flashlight along with two jackets that were found on the roof of the building.

The owner determined damages to total $392.
At 11:12 p.m. officers responded after a burglar alarm was tripped at Performance Feeds, LLC, located at 122 Fourth Street. Reports show that officers found a door on the east side of the building standing open.

When the Warehouse Manager arrived, officers found that the glass had been broken from a door leading into the office area. Nothing appeared to be missing. Damages were said to be around $300.

Shortly afterward, around 12:30 a.m., detectives noticed that windows had been broken at both Crossroads Coffee House and the adjoining Jeff’s Auto Repair located at 220 Second Street.

The owner of the auto repair shop told officers that the only damage he could discern was a broken garage door window and a pry mark on a wooden door in the bathroom.

He told officers that the culprit was likely trying to pry the door open in order to gain entry to the Coffee House. He said damages were around $55.

At Crossroads Coffee House the owner determined that the cash register had been broken into, but reported no other loss or damage.

She told officers that at the time of the crime the register had been empty. She said damages to the window and register would run around $600.

At the present time the crimes remain under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information about the crimes is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-2276.
