Tip Leads To Seizure Of Marijuana Plants

A tip lead local drug agents to a Weakley Creek Road home this week where they seized marijuana plants growing behind an outbuilding.

No charges have been filed in connection with the Monday operation during which drug agents with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department made their way to a home located at 794 Weakley Creek Road.

When they spoke with the residents, deputies report they denied any knowledge regarding anything illegal growing on the premises. They then granted permission for agents to conduct a search.

The plants, five in total, were found growing inside an old tire behind an outbuilding, agents report. The plants were seized into evidence and removed from the property.

Investigation into the matter is on-going presently through the department’s Crime Suppression Unit.
