Disoriented Woman Said She Was Chased From A Masquerade Ball Before Breaking Window

A woman who broke a window out of a couple’s truck early Tuesday morning told authorities that she had been chased from a masquerade ball shortly before.

A couple who resides on Waterloo Road requested that deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department be dispatched to their home at around 1:30 a.m. after the woman busted the driver’s window on their 2002 GMC truck.

The couple reported that the woman, later identified as thirty-four year old Barbara Dean Jackson, had come to their home seeking help.

They said she asked to use a phone and after she did so she left, walking along the roadway. Shortly afterward, they said they heard sounds and looked out to find that the woman had entered their truck.

They said that she kicked the window out before passing out in the driver’s seat.

Deputies report that when they roused Jackson she was uncertain where she was, but did know that she was somewhere on Waterloo Road.

She told them that she had been at a church function earlier, attending a masquerade ball. She stated that, “Someone started chasing her almost like a scary movie.”

Jackson said that because she was being chased she came to the residence to seek help. She said that she remembered getting into the truck, but had no memory of breaking the window.

Deputies noted that there were, “No signs indicating (Jackson) was being chased.” She was placed under arrest on charges of burglary and vandalism and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center without further incident.

Damages to the truck were estimated at $75.
