Couple Indicted In Child Rape Case
A Lawrence County Grand Jury has returned indictments against a Lawrenceburg couple in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of two children.
Arrest reports indicate that Melvin Watts, Jr., age 32, and wife Amanda Kay Watts, age 35, both of 525 Mahr Avenue, Lawrenceburg, were arrested around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say an investigation against the pair has been on-going for some months.
After examining evidence presented against the pair, the grand jury opted to return indictments charging Melvin Watts with the crimes of aggravated sexual battery and rape of a child. Amanda Watts was indicted on charges of child abuse and neglect.
Both Melvin and Amanda Watts are slated to appear in Lawrence County General Circuit Court on June 14, 2010.
