Iron City Woman Finds Animal Remains In Green Beans

An Iron City woman filed a complaint with local law enforcement officials last week after she found what appeared to be animal remains inside a can of green beans.

The resident of Danley Road reported the incident through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. She told deputies that she had opened a 28 ounce can of Libby’s French style green beans and poured the contents into a glass dish in order to heat them. It was at this point, she stated, that she noticed a clump of an odd looking substance.

When she raked across the clump with a spoon, the woman said she discovered hair or fur and “meat particles.” The woman contacted the supermarket where she had purchased the can of beans. They gave her contact information for Seneca Food Corporation in Marion, New York, where the product was produced. The victim was unable to make contact with anyone at the company during the weekend, but told deputies she would again attempt to do so on Monday during business hours.
