Victim Finds His Own Stolen Vehicle

A man who had reported his vehicle stolen last month notified authorities last week that he had located it.

The victim had reported his 1990 Chevrolet 1500 truck stolen on April 28. He requested that deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department meet him at a home on Lentz Road in Summertown. Once there, he showed them that his truck was parked behind the residence.

Deputies checked the vehicle registration number and confirmed that the truck did, in fact, belong to the victim.

The reporting officer indicated that he attempted to make contact with the residents. Although he could hear someone moving about inside, he reports no one answered his hails.

At the time the vehicle was recovered, reports indicate it had been stripped of the wheels and tires, fenders, grill and hood. The truck was towed back to the victims’ residence. At the current time the crime remains under investigation.
