Depot Street Fire early Sunday Morning
Press release
Just before 6:00 AM on Sunday May 15th, 2016 the Lawrenceburg Fire Department was dispatched to 308 Depot Street for a call of an apartment complex on fire.
First arriving units found fire involving a second floor apartment balcony. Fire Department personnel were able to quickly extinguish the fire and confine it to the area of origin, stopping the fire from spreading into the attic space of the complex.
Officers from the Lawrenceburg Police Department assisted firefighters in evacuating the residents from the adjacent apartments to safety. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The fire was determined to have been the result of improperly discarded smoking materials.
Fire officials urge residents to be vigilant to make sure smoking materials are extinguished properly and discarded into a fire safe container. Fortunately this fire did not cause severe property damage and no injuries occurred as the result of this fire. However, only minutes longer going unnoticed could have resulted in a far different outcome.
