Shoplifter Makes Off With Wading Pool

A store manager told law enforcement officers Sunday that a customer had exited the store, then made off with a children’s wading pool.

The manager of the Dollar General Store located at 5001 Highway 43 North, Summertown, reported the crime at 8:13 p.m. She indicated that she had been observing a customer who had been acting suspiciously. She said she turned to help another customer and the man exited the store.

The manager went outside to try to determine the type of car the man was driving. A witness told her that he had taken the wading pool and put it into the car trunk.

He said that the man had attempted to steal several lawn chairs, but dropped them when he found they would not fit into the trunk. He then fled driving a gold Chrysler Concord.
