Resident Caught Shoplifting Syringes

A Lawrence County resident apprehended by local law enforcement officials recently allegedly admitted he had shoplifted the syringes he had with him.

Steven Tyler McFall, 22, of 1220 Ethridge Redhill Road, was arrested on May 6 after agents with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department placed him under surveillance in connection with possible drug activity.

Drug agents with the department report they met McFall along a city street around 2:45 that afternoon. Since they had been involved with him on previous occasions on drug-related matters, they report they “decided to surveil” him. They report watching as McFall entered Tractor Supply Company for a time, then exited empty handed.

After following McFall through two intersections where he “failed to come to a complete stop,” agents initiated a traffic stop. They report McFall was unable to provide proof of insurance.

After obtaining verbal consent to conduct a search of McFall’s vehicle, agents report they found a syringe and a five-pack of needles. They report that McFall admitted he had shoplifted the items from Tractor Supply Company; failing to pay for them.

McFall was placed under arrest on charges of shoplifting for which he will be required to appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court May 17. In addition, citations were issued against him, charging him with failure to stop at a stop sign and violation of the financial responsibility law.
