Identity Thief Opens Paypal Account

   A local victim of identity theft reported to authorities this week that someone had used his personal information to run up a considerable bill using a Paypal account.

   The victim, a sixty-year-old resident of Robbins Street, reported the incident Monday afternoon to Lawrenceburg Police Officers.

   According to the victim, he received notification through the mail, indicating that he owed a total of $1,043.31 on a Paypal account that had been opened in his name. The victim stated, however, that he had never opened the account, nor did he make the purchases.

   Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division have been tasked with further investigating the matter.
