Resident Finds Briefcase Washed Down Creek

   Local authorities are working to determine whether any crime is connected with a briefcase washing onto a creek bank in the wake of Saturday’s rains.

   A resident of Oaks Road in Ethridge summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to his home Sunday, at approximately 7:00 p.m. He stated that he had walked to the creek next to his home and noticed that the briefcase had washed onto the creek bank. He told deputies that he did not know to whom the briefcase belonged.

   Inside, deputies found several business cards and a receipt. They are hopeful that the items may assist them in identifying the owner.
