Resident Reports Son Asked To Add Names To “Hit List”

A Lawrenceburg woman asked law enforcement officials to investigate last week after she learned her son had received emails, inviting him to add names to a “hit list.”

The mother, a resident of Loretto, reported the incident Saturday to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

She stated that she had spoken with her son earlier and he described the email, inviting him to “add names to a list so they could be killed on their birthdays.”

The complainant told deputies that her son resides in Florence, Alabama, but indicated he “does have some mental problems” for which he refuses medical attention or aid.

She explained that she wished for someone to intervene “so that he doesn’t hurt himself or others.”

According to reports, deputies made contact with officers with the Florence Police Department. They explained the situation and requested that they conduct a welfare check on the subject.

Although they went to the home, Florence police officers said they were unable to make contact with him at that time.

They said he was not at home. They indicated, however, that they would continue to check on him until they were able to make contact.
