Investigation Initiated Into Cat Poisoning Incidents
A criminal investigation was initiated last week after an Ethridge woman found that two of her cats had been poisoned, a third shot, within a four-day period.
The victim, age 29, of Weakley Loop, told Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that she found that one of her cats had become ill on Tuesday, May 3. She reported that she took the cat to her veterinarian and was informed that the cat had been poisoned.
The following day, the victim said she found that a second cat had been poisoned. On Friday, she found that a third cat had sustained a gunshot wound from what appeared to be a small caliber weapon.
According to reports, both cats that had been poisoned died. The third cat was receiving medical attention when reports were filed.
