Contracts Approved For Marquee Restoration At Crockett Theater

Lawrenceburg leaders have approved contracts with two different companies to complete repairs and restoration of the marquee and façade at the old Crockett Theater.

Members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council voted Thursday morning to approve a bid from Columbia Neon Company for the restoration of the marquee.

The council had originally sought bids for both the marquee and façade work as a single project. Officials with Columbia Neon suggested that the two projects be separated and requested that they be allowed to submit a bid on the marquee work alone.

The council agreed and the company submitted a bid to replace all defective bulb holders along with white neon behind the glass panels, at a cost of $42,720. The work comes with a twelve month guarantee.

Council members voted to enter into a contract with Cauwell Construction for the façade restoration project. That company submitted a bid of $41,500.

Columbia Neon officials recommended that the council also consider replacing the 10” red Wagner letters and numbers currently used with the sign.

They pointed out, “The letters are designed to be flexible and grip the stainless steel bars. By not gripping the bars the letters fall of and break the incandescent bulbs and green neon along the bottom of the marquee.”

At that time officials had not yet set a specific date on which the work will begin.
