LCHS Project Home Open House

Lawrence County High School’s Building and Trades Program would like to invite everyone to attend an Open House for their LCHS Project Home located at 110 Tyler Court, in the Rickwood subdivision in Dunn, just off Hwy 43, Sunday May 16th, from 2pm-4pm. Light refreshments will be served.

The LCHS building and Trades Program has partnered locally with Rick and Karen Lanning to embark upon building LCHS’s very first Project Home.

The students in the construction, masonry, plumbing, and electrical classes at LCHS, with their instructor’s supervision and guidance, have had the opportunity to receive “hands on” training applicable to their area of study while building this project home.

The home is a 3100+ sq. ft. contemporary style, 4 BR, 4.1/2 bath dwelling, having

10-12 ft. ceilings throughout, as well as, a floor to ceiling stone fireplace, and a media room within , with stone accents, a double car garage, and  breezeway, outside.

The home was designed by the Lanning’s son, Eric, a 4 yr. student with the Building and Trades program at LCHS.  “It has been a wonderful experience to see the excitement, team effort, dedication, and craftsmanship these young men and women have applied to this project and we feel assured the public will be amazed at the quality and the level of detail and skill these young people have brought to this project home.

This has been very much a win –win situation for all parties involved, and we encourage anyone interested to contact the LCHS Building and Trades Program if you would consider partnering with them for a future project.” state the Lanning’s.

Currently, the home is approximately two-thirds complete, with the finishing work on the inside to be completed in the 2010-2011 school year.

The home will be for sale at its completion. Also, as the guidelines of the program stipulate, The Building and Trades program receives a designated percentage of the total cost of materials and supplies used in the home or a designated percentage of the sale price, which is  returned to the program in order  to assist them with the future development of their program.

Everyone is encouraged to come out Sunday, May 16th,  2-4pm  and show your support for the students who have taken much pride in their work and accomplishments on this first LCHS Project Home.

Directions to the site:  From Hwy 43 S, turn east onto Dunn-Leoma Rd, directly across from Rick’s Barbecue Country Store in Leoma.

Travel less than one mile to the four way stop  at Dunn Methodist Church. Turn right at the church and the Project House will be the first house on your right.  Please call 931-242-2291 if you  need information the day of the Open House.

Also please take time to visit Loretto High School’s 2009-2010 building project that same afternoon.
