Golf Balls Are Vandals’ Weapon Of Choice

Vandals who damaged the vehicle of at least one local resident in the early hours Thursday were reportedly casting golf balls.

The resident of Ethridge-Redhill Road told Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that she had been watching a movie just before 3:30 a.m. when she was startled by a “loud boom.” The boom, she said, was followed by the sound of laughter.

The resident indicated that she quickly looked outside and noticed a car that was moving at a very slow pace down the roadway.

When she went to investigate the source of the sound the resident discovered that someone had broken a window from her van. Reports show that a golf ball was found lying near the shattered glass.

Damages were estimated to total $500. Anyone who has information regarding the crime is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s department at 762-3626.
