Charges Brought Against Giles Man In Traffic Assault

Charges were issued against a Giles County man during the weekend after he allegedly assaulted another motorist with his vehicle while driving along a Lawrence County roadway.

Justin Clark Gardner, age 26, of Pulaski was charged with crimes that include domestic assault, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended driver’s license, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m., beginning in the Ethridge area.

The victim, a twenty-three year old Minor Hill resident told officers that Gardner had followed her from Ethridge.

After entering the Lawrenceburg city limits, she said he pulled his vehicle alongside hers. She said that he made a slashing motion across his throat while yelling to her that, “She would not be a problem anymore.”

The victim told officers that Gardner swerved his vehicle in front of hers then slammed on his brakes, causing her to hit the back of his car.

She said he then fled from the scene. In addition, she told officers she knew that his driver’s license had previously been suspended.

While speaking with the victim, the reporting officer notes that Gardner called her phone. The officer answered, asking him to meet him to speak about the incident. Gardner said he was in Pulaski and refused to meet officers.

Officers were able to obtain warrants against Gardner then contacted Pulaski police officers. They made contact with him at his home, arrested him, and then transported him to the Lawrence County line, into the custody of local deputies.

Gardner was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center without further incident under a bond of $4,000. He will answer the charges against him in General Sessions Court on June 5, 2014.
