Heath Says Source Of LHS Threat ID’d

In the hopes of allaying fears, Lawrence County Director of Schools Dr. Bill Heath issued a statement Friday regarding a written threat found at Loretto High School.

Heath indicated that he issued the statement, “In order to dispell any rumors you may hear in the next few days.”

Heath said that fears regarding student and staff safety resulted from a threat that was found written on a wall at  the school. Members of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department conducted an investigation into the incident and were successful in indentifying the source. A student, they report, was found to be responsible.

Heath assures parents, “All appropriate steps are being taken to make sure the student poses no threat to any student or staff; and we are making sure that faculty and staff provide a heightened level of supervision. Law enforcement will provide extra security to assure every parent that their child is safe at school.”
